Most of this is fill in the blank material especially why beer is better than Barack Obama but hey have a laugh if you didn't vote for him or if you did.

For those who say George Bush is a moron, he graduated from Yale and has a Harvard MBA. I guess that would make those that call him a moron and lack that level of education real dumb asses and what does a dumb ass know?

I really loved it during the 2000 presidential campaign when the Democrats kept calling him stupid. Al Gore just has a BA and flunked out of his Graduate degree program at Vanderbilt. I guess in the liberal fascist eyes a dropout is smarter than someone with a superior education. That explains the illogical mindset of the left and why welfare recipients vote for Democrats.

This is the kind of stuff that destroys public forums and turns people off.
I understand this is a General Discussion group but aren't there better sites for this?

I agree totally this is not necessary or needed in this forum. Most of the guys here served time in the military...can we not support the president

Support what?

Giving "tax cuts" to people who don't pay taxes?
A massive $787 Billion dollar spending spree disguised as an economic stimulus package?
Appointing a tax cheat to run the I.R.S.?
Appointing an Attorney General that supported Clinton's pardon of convicted FALN terrorists?
Rewarding irresponsible homeowners by subsidizing their mortgages?
A European-style health care system?
Punishing achievers by raising their taxes?
Appeasing our enemies?
War on Capitalism?

Tell me, what one of those do you support?

I personally support the United States, it's President and the fact that anyone can express their opinions.   I do feel however that those opinions should be expressed with respect for others.   Is that too much to ask?

If you were in a country like Kuwait, which is one of the most liberal of the Arab states, and a person express critical remarks about the Emir be it in public forum or private . . .  be prepared to spend some time in the comfort of a Kuwaiti jail.

OK, I'll bite.
Tax cuts to those on the lower 95% of income more directly stimulate the economy because the money is more likely to be spent.

The stimulus package is what it is, something had to be done, maybe it works, maybe not.  But we've already seen what happens when corporations are left to do what they please.  Now it's time to try to keep the economy from grinding to a halt.

As for his appointments, he should have used better judgement in a few of them, but he got who he's got.

Maybe you should look at how the loan reorganization plan actually works.  People who were irresposnsible before won't be getting any help, nor will speculators.  It's for people's primary residence, and they have to re-qualify.

I'll take Universal healthcare over anything we have right now.  I'd prefer the Canadian system, however, what is being proposed isn't even in the arena of European style anything.

I'll start crying about those poor folks who make more than $250k as soon as they start caring about those who are left destitute.

Appeasement. . . I don't think this means what you think it does.  Which 'enemies' would you be talking about?

Capitalism needs to be tempered with social responsibility.  That's how societies function, you can't have straight capitalism any more than you can have real marxism.

In any case, agreeing or disagreeing on any of these things still are not an excuse to refuse to support the President or to wish him failure.  If he fails, the country fails.

Did I about cover it?

I think you might have meant Timothy Geithner as the Treasury Secretary.

This is who runs the IRS according to irs.gov:

"Douglas Shulman became the 47th Commissioner of Internal Revenue and began his five-year term on March 24, 2008."

The I.R.S. is under the Treasury Department's umbrella so Mr. Geitner is ultimately in charge as evidenced by his pronouncement to pursue off-shore tax shelters. The hypocrisy of that move is astounding but as we have seen with this administration thus far, credibility is not high on the priority list.

griff61

Geitner has offshore tax shelters?

Whether he does or doesn't is immaterial. The hypocrisy comes from the fact that the man who, by his own admission, failed to pay taxes on his income is now vowing to come after people that fail to pay taxes on their income. Are you seeing the connection yet?

griff61

No, I don't.  But I do see that the recent efforts to go after evaders started in the Bush administration suing Swiss banks for information.
The other thing I don't see, is why you would have a problem with the government going after tax cheats.  Is that behavior ok with you?

Support the President? Most military folks refused to salute Slick Willy and I see this happening again in the near future.  Duckbutta you rock.
