Any information about what this option is?

I have an HP 8663A with option H06.   It appears to be something the military special ordered.   The only thing I found about it was in an old DOD Midas disk, it listed a K procedure for the 8663A with that option, but when I looked at the procedure it was just the standard procedure for 8663A without any mention of H06.

If anyone has any idea what it is or has any specs for it, it would be much appreciated.

I don't know off hand but
H options are military specials
W is warranty related.

I've only calibrated one heavily limited 8663A twice so far. So my 8663A knowledge is uber slim.

Coup it's front output.   Rear output is option 01.   I think Wings is right about it being a military special.   That would be a nice feature for Gidep - a reference of H options & what they are.   What they are to me is a pain in the a. . .

If I mismember correctly, one of the modulation inputs are converted from 50 ohms to 600 ohms, hence the H06...but I'm not sure

I'll look it up tomorrow, since being packrats, we've never thrown anything away...

And BTW..anyone out there with an operational 8902MMS, I've got a great program for calibrating an 8663A using the 11673 and the 8563, along with the rest of the MMS..and if you have an option 002, using a 3325A..this is using the approved USAF software..takes about 1.5 hours..then it's off to phase noise (there goes most of the day)

O.K., I didn't remember correctly (so I've been told)..Opt H06 is a military option to let it run on 400 Hz (aircraft) and some extra internal shielding...

Now..do you have the SN?  We support over 40 of those options here..and have NRTSd some out for phase noise problems..no telling if they've been resold by companies who hang out at DR.MO..

I might have some history on it, mainly because it's pretty specialized.

Thanks Mike - that's exactly what I needed to know.   At this point the history isn't too critical.   It's a little busted up & doesn't power on at the moment.   Nothing a few hundred dollars worth of parts and a few hours of time won't fix.

Doesn't power up?  If you are lucky it's just a few hundred dollars.   Doesn't power up?  If you are lucky it's just a few hundred dollars.   Send Mike the SN and he can look up what happened to it if it was an air force asset prior to coming into your hands.

Merc - I've been in the repair game for a long time.   Doesn't power up is a problem I can almost always fix.   I will take a piece that doesn't power up over one that won't meet spec any day of the week.   This one looks like it took a five foot drop on it's face.   Parts are still available from Agilent so I'm not worried.
