Hey guys, awsome site.

Now, i just got the new procedure here in Aviano, and i am having big problems with it.  The thing is, every place where the 652 and 3325B were used the 5700 has replaced them.  The 5700 is a great machine,  dont get me wrong.  But in this case it is tooooo good, For the life of me i cannot get the 334 to pass the automatic null cal, the 5700 is too dang clean.  are you guys having the same problems, also, how do you prove that a standard is TO good  ??

thanks in advance

What do you mean too good?  We have been doing the 334A cal for years with the 5720A and have had no problems.  If you can't get a low enough null then you need to look at adjusting the Auto photo resistors.  The procedure listed in the T.O. is pretty easy to follow.

alright, thanks...although i have never seen the 5720 used, or in the kpro, i just got the procedure here and we had to go from the 652 to the 5700.  I will look into the Auto photo resistors thanks  i appreciate it.

I don't have access to the procedures, can you be more specific about what problem you are having with the auto null?

I don't use the 5700 for doing the auto null, the signal is too clean and in order to get a manual null on the 334A, the frequecy dial and the balance pots are too sensitive. I use a 3336C and a 3325C, I set one of them for the fundamental and the other on the harmonic approx. -42dBc to give it just below the same 1% distortion spec for the 652.

I now know exactly what you mean. Try groundbusting the 5700 doing the 25 Hz also spend about 20 minutes per check playing with the knobs. Also if you are like me and have abnormally high static present back away from any null meter and try not pick them up at all. Also exercise the  piss out of the range knob if it wants to peg up about 3-4 ranges.
Jesse,
Basically what he is getting is the auto null is coming out probably 1-2 dB better than he was getting manually. Also on the 334A topic I'm making a new thread.
