How will you make an impact?
Our company seeks a Calibration Technician with journeyman expertise responsible for instrumentation calibrations, troubleshooting, installation and equipment maintenance for the FCS Allentown Facilities. This individual will be responsible for calibration of instruments, troubleshooting & repairing instruments/ equipment, the maintenance of packaging equipment, control loops, replacement of transmitters, wiring and pneumatic control devices. The successful individual is responsible for safely executing all assignments in a pharmaceutical packaging and distribution environment. They will also demonstrate and promote the company vision of the 4 I's.

What will you do?
•   Maintains awareness, training, and knowledge of Thermo Fisher Safety Policies and Procedures to assure compliance with regulatory, global and site quality requirements. General OSHA work place rules & regulations knowledge is needed. Familiarity with cGMP's and SOP's for FDA compliance.
•   Executes on-site calibrations, coordinating on-site vendor calibrations and coordinates shipping/receiving for off-site vendor calibrations. Performs preventative maintenance (PM) and scheduled instrumentation procedures on pharmaceutical process and facilities equipment.
•   Performs assigned routine calibrations, PMs and non-routine work as assigned by Manager utilizing the Allentown Asset/Maintenance Management System (Maximo).
•   Performs calibration and maintenance assessments requirements for new and legacy assets.
•   Given an approved work order; the Technician reviews the work location, formulates the necessary work plan & sequence of activities, coordinates schedule and equipment availability, secures access to the area, tools and materials and accomplishes the assigned task.
•   Work is to be performed in a safe and timely manner to assure PMs and Calibrations are completed within the scheduled timeframe and are not overdue. This may also include the completion of EHS Risk Assessment Permits, Job Safety Analysis and HAZOP forms.
•   Troubleshoots, repairs, installs, field wires and calibrates process instrumentation, including temperature/humidity transmitters and differential pressure sensors, pneumatic control devices and electrical components. Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems with DDC electronic process control systems.
•   Utilizes a wide variety of calibration set-ups and calibration standards, traceable to NIST, to perform calibrations utilizing signal injection and/or control loop calibration. Must be able to demonstrate typical instrument calibration procedures based on prior knowledge.
•   Extensive hands-on knowledge of: air quality samplers, carbon dioxide sensors, oxygen sensors, analytical balances, check weights, industrial scales, temperature controllers, temperature transmitters, thermocouples, humidity & moisture transmitters, pressure transmitters, RTD's, pressure switches, tachometers, timers, ultrasonic level transmitters, calipers/depth gauges, torque transducers, pneumatic control valves and vacuum gauges.
•   Troubleshoots, repairs, installs and maintains manufacturing and packaging equipment including replacement of wear parts, lubrication, filter replacement, and functionality verification.
•   Extensive hands-on knowledge of the following types of equipment: blenders, blister machines, bottle filling lines, capsule fillers, labelers, printers, syringe assemblers, sealing machines, vacuums, and vision systems.
•   Records activities to comply with SOP's and provide accurate equipment histories.
•   Utilizes the Asset/Maintenance Management System (Maximo) to initiate, track, develop equipment histories and complete work orders.
How will you get here?
Education
•   2 year Technical/Vocational or Military training/degree/certifications
Experience
•   5 years' relevant Instrumentation or Electronic Metrology with Equipment Maintenance experience in a pharmaceutical FDA regulated environment.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
•   Must have a working knowledge of cGMP practices relating to pharmaceutical processes
•   Must be able to independently perform a full range of process instrumentation calibrations against NIST traceable standards.
•   Experience performing preventative maintenance
•   Basic computer literacy including the ability to generate documents in both Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, general MS Office Applications.
•   Experience writing SOPs and Work Instructions.
