LeCroy software

In case there are some labs that have not found it, LeCroy has software to save settings and retrieve them from your LC584Al scopes.  The best use we have found is to save all the scope settings for things like Tacan pulse measuring, pulse gen cal steps (P-P voltage, freq., duty cycle, etc.) and the cal steps for the LC584AL itself.  This saves a lot of button turning on the scope.

To start using this software, you will need to do the following:
1) Find one of the labs  unused GPIB - USB-A National Instruments adapters and load the drivers on your PC
2) Download the Scope Xplorer software from LeCroy: http://www.lecroy.com/tm/Library/Software/home.asp?menuid=8
3) The software will locate the GPIB and the scope connected to it.  As you use the LC584AL to calibrate, save the settings in K-proc step order: 4.2.03, 4.2.06, etc.  Be sure to use the ZERO's before the last number to keep them displayed in STEP order.
4) ONce all steps are stored, go to the program files, lecroy, panels folder and copy on the files there to a server folder named Lecroy panels/"K-proc or model #" folders.
5) Next use, the cal tech can just copy and paste all the stored panels into the Lecroy folder for use in their calibration.

This saves a ton of time scrolling around looking for the right setup on the scope.  THere is already an Suggestion Program suggestion submitted but it must have gone into the BLACK HOLE that is the Air Force suggestion program nowadays.

Good stuff Larry!  Thanks for the heads up.

BTW, I just heard today via the worldwide, that the LeCroys are no more.  They're being replaced by a couple of Tektronix scopes.

Just when you think you've got something figured out, they go changing it on you...

I have a Tektronix TDS7904 on my bench. It beats a LeCroy anyday of the week! :-D

LeCroy scopes suck. The TDS series is far better. I use a Agilent Infinium scope and I like it a bunch.

Some of our customers have switched to the Infiniums. I keep wondering if those things have games on them. :-D

The French women don't shave and take baths. That's just nasty.

Are you saying LeCroy oscilloscopes are hairy?

LarryH

Is it too much to ask to keep on topic for these post?  THis great forum of information could turn into a PMEL Myspace with the useless inputs smoothering the good information.  Please refrain from posting junk (like "LeCroys are hairy") on otherwise valuable topics - if we can do this, this website will be a wealth of information for years to come.  Thank you.

I don't think an occasional, obviously light hearted, post is going to kill anyone.  Lighten up a bit LarryH.

We do have an opportunity to get out of hand, but I've seen all of these guys get very serious about metrology topics when called on.  So you have to skip two posts, is your time that valuable?
Thraxas and Flew-Da-Coup were actually doing the thread a favor by keeping it alive and giving it a bump.  That keeps the topic at the top of the list.

Making this a "work topic only" forum, or turning Hoopty into the Thread Nazi isn't going to accomplish anything.  Some consideration and understanding from all sides is needed.

If we didn't bump post they would be burried within a day. Personally is wish we had more metrology related post. But, alot of us use this forum as a break from making data sheets, tweaking MetCal programs and all the other things that stress us out.

LeCroy...thought they only existed in Museums...I remember some UPM something or other scope they made that didn't work worth a sh#t.  Great troubleshooting practice....
