This company is a joke. They don't realize most of us make $55 - 80K year and some of us make even more.

I decided to create this new topic so that the company can see it. I emailed them and told them to look at the forum to see what we think about their job offer. So please let them know.

I almost made that hourly rate as an E-4 over 20 years ago.  Takes me 20 minutes to make that now, after taxes...  Clearly these people are pulling our leg!

...and if they're not, woe to the customer that has them work on their equipment!!
If it works, it's a Fluke.

I whole-heartily agree. Solid Metrology/Calibration trained techs are harder and harder to come by these days. If companies want quality, dedicated people, they need to pay them what they're worth. Otherwise they'll get any Joe Blow off the street who took the ISA cert course and think they hit the jackpot. (incudentally, while ISA has some good info, their calibration stuff is VERY general in nature, geared towards industrial instrumentation and in need of heavy editing. Lot of incorrect info).

I can't even begin to tell you how many times companies I've worked decided to settle for what's available instead of offering the money and relo for qualified people. (myself not included )

I heard that TAD needs Lawyers and they are paying $14 an hour. :-P

Come to find out TAD is at the Cape and are more than likely hiring for Lockheed Martin. I have friends that worked there and they did n't get paid that low. What's up with Lockheed? Anyone here work for Lockheed and know anything about this? Why are they offering you less money than a MGR at Mcdonalds.

Come to find out TAD is not responsible for the salary but the company they represent.

I know Lockheed has the contract there and is one of the biggest contractors for the military.

According to the job description, they're not looking for an experienced calibration technician. They're looking for an electronics technician. They also state that calibration specific training will be provided on the job. That implies they don't want someone with previous calibration experience. Sounds like they are just looking for someone to push buttons. Maybe a better job title would be Calibration Helper or Calibration Assistant? Calibration Gofer? Calibration Lackey? :-D

I think your right. I heard that Lockheed Martin in Orlando hires a bunch of guys that have no expirence. They have some ex-PMEL techs, but they don't make much either. I don't think their high end of the pay scale is above $20 an hour. SO DON"T GO TO LOCKHEED! I know a guy that used to work at their Orlando facility and he didn't know that he was working slave labor. He said he would stock groceries before he would go back there. BEWARE OF LOCKHEED in Orlando. They just put themselves in the league of Volt Services and are attempting to drive our salaries down. I call for a boycott of employment. LOCKHEED in Orlando is a sweatshop.  :x

That's provided he's actually in O-town. I don't know for sure. I haven't talked to him in about a week.
