POSITION AVAILABLE:  PMEL Technician

LOCATION: Clear AFS, AK

JOB DESCRIPTION:  The Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) technicians perform calibration, certification, troubleshooting and repair of Test Measurement and Diagnostics Equipment (TMDE). Includes the different areas as applicable: general-purpose electronic test equipment, multi-meters, oscilloscopes, frequency counters, function/pulse generators, RF/microwave generators, spectrum/network analyzers, vibration indicators, calipers, dial indicators, micrometers, pressure/vacuum gauges, scales, temperature and humidity devices, flow meters, plug gauges, to include resistance, capacitance, inductance and voltage standards and onsite calibrations. Comply with Air Force Metrology and Calibration approved procedures for all aspect of inspection, repair and calibration.  Individual must utilizes the PMEL Automated Management System (PAMS) to ensure accurate traceability of all TMDE to National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Duties will include other general Laboratory tasks. Works quickly, enthusiastic about assignments and self-initiated tasks, strives to excel, follows instructions accurately and in a timely manner, initiates many actions independently.  Completes appropriate supply paperwork for the requisition and turn-in of government assets. Performs additional duties as assigned by the foreman and/or supervisor/manager.  Participates in the company and PMEL self-inspection and quality programs.  Security clearance required:  SECRET.   

EXPERIENCE:  Three years experience as a PMEL technician.  Knowledge of the philosophy and science of International Standards Organization (ISO) 9000 and 17025 standards is required.  Position requires thorough and extensive troubleshooting and repair skills, general knowledge of computers, and accurate data entry skills.

EDUCATION:  High School graduate or equivalent.  Completion of a formal military or recognized civilian basic electronics course is required.   Completion of civilian or Air Force PMEL technician course.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Applicant selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Why do they always say Air Force PMEL technician course?  I have been thru the Navy basic and advance calibration schools.  That doesnt count?
