GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Support the NAVAIR Jacksonville Metrology Division to execute the Navy's Metrology and Calibration (METCAL) program.
Provide measurement traceability to US legal standards defined, maintained and disseminated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in support of the Navy's entire calibration program.

GENERAL DUTIES:
Analyze and design calibration procedures for mechanical, Electro-Optics systems, FLIR, camera, laser and equipment.
Analyze and develop requirements for Calibration Measurements Requirements Summaries (CMRS's).
Develop and manage calibration procedures (ICPs - Instrument Calibration Procedures and CPARs- Calibration Problem Assistance Requests).
Research and design new metrology technology for calibration systems.
Test and repair calibration equipment.
Provide engineering support for the Fleet Support Teams.
Acquire NAVAIR METCAL calibration standards
Plan, coordinate, and/or conduct and solve specific, difficult mechanical engineering issues requiring substantial analysis and evaluation of causes, effects, and alternatives.

MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the Calibration/Metrology field.
Mechanical engineering knowledge as it relates to NAVAIR platforms and weapons systems.
In-depth knowledge and mastery of advanced concepts, principles, theories, practices and techniques within the assigned Metrology Engineering areas.
Electro-Optics Engineering experience is a plus.
Familiarity with NAVAIR METCAL policy is a plus.
Excellent communications skills.
ESD handling techniques.
Interpreting technical publications and mechanical drawings.
SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:

Applicant will be subject to a security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government. In addition to the security clearance, this position may require an additional background screening for base access.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

CARRYING and LIFTING. Ability to transport and lift up to 30 lbs.
Employee may access remote areas of multi-level vessels
Must comply with Company's Driver Safety Policy if assigned to operate company and/or rental vehicles
