POSITION TITLE:    Engineering Technician – Optoelectronics Metrology
LOCATION:    AFPSL, 813 Irving-Wick Dr. West, Heath, Ohio 43056   
SUPERVISOR:    Photonics/Nucleonics Department Manager
CLASSIFICATION:    Non-Exempt
HOURS:    Full-Time Monday thru Friday (40 Hrs) some OT may be required
SALARY:          $19.84 - $36.39 per hour based on experience

JOB DESCRIPTION:   
The Technician is responsible for providing calibration and maintenance services on equipment in the Photonics/Nucleonics Department. Successful candidate will apply advanced technical knowledge to tackle intricate problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturer's manuals or similar documents. In addition, the position requires the ability to use complex test instruments to conduct optical measurements on detectors and sources over wavelengths spanning UV to Mid-IR.

REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
1. Associate's Degree or related equivalent experience.
2. Minimum 4 years' experience in metrology and repair of TMDE
3. Excellent working knowledge of calibration and maintenance of primary measurement standards in one or more of the following areas: Luminous Intensity and Color Temperature Measurements; Illuminance and Luminance Sources and Detectors; Spectral Transmittance of Filters; Non-Contact Thermometry and Blackbody Sources; Spectroradiometric Detectors Spanning UV to Mid-IR; Spectral Radiance and Irradiance of Lamps; Spectral Responsivity of Detectors; High Accuracy Laser Power and Energy Meter Calibrations; Fiber Optic Power Meters.
4. Possesses the knowledge required to read and understand schematic and wiring drawings.
5. Thorough understanding of the requirements of ISO 17025 and T.O. 00-20-14. 
6. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
7. Must be able to qualify for or have successfully completed a National Agency Check Investigation within the last ten (10) years. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Essential/Typical Duties:
•   Maintains and calibrates electronic, optical, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).
•   Performs general maintenance and overhaul procedures; and uses TMDE to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
Non-Essential Duties:
•   Perform other related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Occasionally requires Climbing, Stooping and Kneeling
  • Often requires Reaching, Pulling, Pushing, Standing, Sitting, Walking, Talking and Hearing
     Lifting/Moving Requirements:
        • Must have the ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds (lbs.); must
           have the ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements
           when calibrating certain TMDE.

Environmental Conditions:
• Normally works in an environmentally controlled work area.
