I have applied at a company and I am now hearing rumours that they lost thier certification last year and "shopped around" for a new company?

You should be to go to the accreditation body's website and see the current status of any company's certificate.  It should say something like CURRENT if they have a good certificate, or WITHDRAWN or SUSPENDED, etc. if not.

I was told they lost it then "shopped around" to find an easier auditor. The company they are with now is new to them.

I don't know the company in question here.. But in the past couple of years I have witnessed several move away from A2LA.  Each for other different reasons.

Keysight moved away a couple of years ago. Now they have moved again. It seems companies are moving to where ever let's them get away with breaking the most rules.
