POSITION TITLE: Engineering Technician (Physical)
LOCATION: AFPSL, Heath, Ohio 43056
SUPERVISOR:   Physical-Mechanical Department Manager
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
HOURS: Full-Time Monday thru Friday (40 hrs.); some OT may be required
SALARY: Commensurate with relevant experience and education

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Technician is responsible for providing calibration and repair services on physical/dimensional standards and fixtures and electronic/electro-mechanical equipment in the Physical-Mechanical Department of the U.S. Air Force Primary Standards Laboratory.  Data are processed and analyzed to complete calibration certificates and labels.  Technical knowledge is applied to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.  The candidate must be meticulous and quality-minded with a high mechanical aptitude.   

REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
• Associate's Degree or related equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in metrology and repair of Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).
• Excellent working knowledge of calibration and maintenance of Physical, Dimensional, Mechanical, and/or Optical primary measurements standards (including flow (liquid and gas), force, mass, pressure, temperature, sound, gage blocks, optical flats, surface finish, laser interferometry and vibration).
• Possesses the knowledge required to read and understand schematic and wiring drawings.
• Must have the ability to understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and measurement uncertainties and to read, understand, and follow Air Force calibration procedures and manufacturers' manuals.
• Thorough understanding of the requirements of ISO 17025 and T.O. 00-20-14. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
   Essential/Typical Duties:
        •   Maintains, repairs, and calibrates electronic and physical/dimensional test measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).
        •   Performs general maintenance and overhaul procedures; and uses TMDE to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
   
Non-Essential Duties:
         •Perform other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  Often requires:
Climbing, Stooping, Kneeling, Reaching, Standing, Sitting, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Talking, and Hearing

Lifting/Moving Requirements:   
• Must have the ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds (lbs.); must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements when calibrating certain TMDE.

Environmental Conditions:
• Normally works in an environmentally controlled work area.
