Midwest Research Institute is currently in need of an Instrument Services Specialist.

Job Description

Works in cooperation with other Instrument Services staff members to maintain the proper operation and calibration of critical instrumentation. Maintains full and accurate documentation of the calibrations performed in accordance with regulatory requirements and MRI SOPs. Works closely with technical department staff to provide satisfactory fulfillment of their calibration needs and to increase the overall reliability of measurements made at the Institute.

General Qualifications

BS/BA in Science or Engineering plus a minimum of 5 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Experience in the operation and calibration of various types of instrumentation and standards. Proven experience in a research environment, dealing with data recording, federal regulations, QA/Safety/SOPs, and instrumentation. Demonstrates creative problem resolution, meets client expectations in a timely fashion. Interacts with technical staff at all levels in a team-based environment. Proficient computer skills and ability to operate test equipment. Expresses ideas in an organized manner, adjusts language and terminology for different audiences. As needed, works flexible schedule. Travels occasionally for job-related training or other business purposes. Self-starter with a high comfort level working on a variety of equipment. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. In order to meet the government security investigation requirements, U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite.

Note: This position is better suited for an experienced K5/6 technician. Very little electronics work so K3/4 gurus won't be much help.
