Hed to do some checking on things in Asia and accidentally discovered that googlemaps[dot]com has street level high resolution in Hong Kong.  It was so cool to look up close at the front of the building where we may buy some hard to find lead acid batteries for our DC voltage references.  Go to a Hong Kong address and go into the street level view, and do the highest level of zoom.

Maybe I'm just getting old, but I found it be be absolutely amazing.

Now go back to google maps and punch in YOUR address. Scary ain't it? They stopped the streetview car thing less than 1/4 mile from my house.

They do not have my house on there. It is still just an empty field. I wonder how long it will take to update? It has been over a year since we started. I can see the hole for our septic test but we did that a long time ago.

I heard the google streetview cars worldwide have been parked until further notice due to some privacy lawsuits in some countries etc.

Seems some folks don't like pictures on the interwebs of them coming out of "houses of ill repute" to put it nicely  :roll:

I think some people didn't like who's car was parked outside while they were at work..

The reason some of your houses are so out of date is that the vans are all over in Asia.

I am a little surprised about Hong Kong, as that is now owned by Peoples Republic of China (Communism).  Then again, I think Hong Kong is such a Cash Cow for China that they are leaving it alone since the return from Britain in 1997.

Google Street View

Residents were in panic after a Google Street View camera snapped this image – a girl's BODY lying face-down on a pavement.

People living in Middle Road, St John's, Worcester, were so concerned they contacted Google in case a crime had gone undetected.

The brown-haired girl, who was wearing a pink and brown dress, was apparently dead with her legs lying across the curb and onto the road.

But the 'body' was in fact a nine-year-old girl playing a prank with her friend.

The Google Street View camera took the snap last summer.

One resident, who did not wish to be named, said: "When we heard about the Street View images we had a look at our street and thought it was really cool.

"It might have been a joke but lots of people were very worried.
