So I'm taking my CCT in June and I'm just curious what everyone thinks about it.  It doesn't seem like it will be to difficult of a test especially since I'm a pretty good test taker, but what I really want to know is if it has had any effect on finding work or raises.  Does it really make you look that more attractive to an employer?  To me it just seems like one more thing to hang your hat on.

I thought the same thing, but in realitym the test is a pain. Study everything in the recommended reading, particularly all the math. In my opinion, CCT hasn't got a lot to do with practical application or what the actual function is of a cal tech. It should be called Certified Metrologist test.
After jumping through the hoops, I wouldn't use it as a measure of how good a tech is, but I would make note of it if I needed a Metrologist.

I agree that the current format doesn't carry much weight. I have coached 2 techs through the entire process. I felt that both of these techs wern't "Metrologists", but more "Calibration Techs". There needs to be a program to recognize the superior level of understanding and level of technical expertise that a Metrologist carries.

As in a person who understands the process as a whole, not just a specific area or piece of equipment.

I now work at a depot where 98% of the calibration techs are not formally trained. The CCT would help them greatly for a deeper understanding of the entire process.  They mostly just see a part and say that all is needed (cal procedure),  no understanding of how the procedure got there, why it uses the standards it does and why the accuracies are such.
