Space Exploration Technologies www. spacex. com is currently looking for a Calibration Technician for our Hawthorne CA facility.     If you're interested in commercial space flight and are ready to make a difference, submit your resume!

Our rapid growth has created an opportunity for a Metrology/Calibration Technician to support the design and production of our Falcon 1 and Falcon 9 launch vehicles and our Dragon spacecraft.     

Description:

We are a fast-paced and high energy team that provides support to ensure the measurement integrity of our scientists and technicians.     The right candidate will possess both physical and electronic calibration capabilities, the ability to think on their feet and have a can-do attitude.     Providing top-notch support for our internal customers is our goal.  

Responsibilities:

Performs routine and complex work related to the repair and calibration of electronic, electro-mechanical and mechanical test and measurement equipment.    Provides factory maintenance on equipment when required.    Uses calibration procedures and measurement systems for use on company equipment in compliance with requirements.    Assures compliance to Quality System.     Provide recall and calibration data to supported teams within the factory and test sites.  

Requirements:

·         Military PMEL/TMDE/DOD training preferred.  

·         Minimum of 5 years experience in the repair and calibration of electronic/electro-mechanical, process control equipment and mechanical equipment.  

·         Electrical and Physical Dimensional experience preferred.  

·         AC/DC Low Frequency experience preferred.  

·         Physical Dimensional experience preferred.  

·         Excellent customer service skills.  

·         Excellent attention to detail.  

·         Advanced skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and industry specific software.  

·         Capable of heavy lifting (50 to 80 pounds).  

·         To conform to U.   S.    Government space technology export regulations, SpaceX hires only U.   S.    citizens and U.   S.    Permanent Residents.

In all honesty, it will be based upon experience.  But hold some faith, becuase the company is very competitive for Los Angeles.

Thanks for all the help folks, the position has been filled.  Got a 6492 out of the USMC, because face the facts, Marine Calibrators are the best!   :wink:

I'f I had a dime every time a jarhead said he was the best, I'd be rich.  The proof is in the pudding, not how much you blurt out "we're the best".  LOL

I'm not too concerned with being "the best" but it would seem that the USAF PMEL were smarter because they never had to spend a night in a foxhole or a tent.   :wink:
