I've been in metrology for nearly 30 years and have some background in MANY disciplines.  This is just one of those that I haven't spent time with.  I've known of them for more than 20 years, but this is my first go around with one.  So my metrological principles tell me to make sure I know what I'm doing each step of the way.  I have to self-train on it, then teach entry level people how to use it.

It's all just one continuous adventure....
"I often say that when you can measure what you are speaking about, and express it in numbers, you know something about it; but when you cannot measure it, when you cannot express it in numbers, your knowledge is of a meagre and unsatisfactory kind."
Lord Kelvin (1824-1907)

Heres my suggestion Throw it away and get a ruska 7250xi

Just kidding get a bottle of dry nitrogen from your local welders supply and a regulator and try the same test one thing though do NOT let any liquid back up into your dead weight it will play havoc on your readings get a gauge cleaner from king nuts or manufacturer one yourself gidep has a schematic in one of the navair pressure procedures

beadwork

Which GIDEP navair pressure procedure has the schematic for the gauge cleaner?
