ok, maybe I do need to tighten a few screws, but there are a few jobs over there for pmel.  I just applied for one.  Pay is good here, but sometimes you need a change of scenery.  Besides, pay over there is very high, and they issue me my own kevlar vest and helmet.

The pay may be good friend, but your life is priceless.  IS it worth it?  $65000 tax free sounds good, but the danger is great.  Try Greenland, same jack, just alot of rocks and ice.  NO AL QUIEDA OR INSURGENTS.

dallanta, Sounds interesting. I hope you don't mind my asking, but how much is the pay for working over there? I've sometimes thought about working over there and was curious about the compensation.

dallanta

The compensation is really good, expecially with the irs tax break. I figure it is safe enough, depending on where you end up anyway. But then, I spent 2 tours in Nam and did not get anything but an attitude, lol.  The company really has it down to s science.   In august, they need to hire another 8000 people.  Thats what they told us in the seminar.

Wow, that's a lot of turnover. What's the name of the company, and how long do you have to stay?
BTW I appreciate the response to my first post. If I'm being too nosy, I apologize in advance.

Is it KBR?   Lots of Jack-scary muslim psycho's.  $65K tax free is not enough....................

If I got offered six figures, I might consider it, but $65k is low for the conditions. :-(

Thraxas

What's the matter Flynn? You don't want to play that game, "Calibrate for Dollars"? Crossing a minefield while being shot at is considered a "physical challenge" and earns you bonus money.  :-D

dallanta

Well crapola,  not going.  It seems my health has become an issue and the doctor won't sign off.  I am disappointed as hell.
$65k, ?  Not sure where you got that quote, but it is a lot lower than what I got. Double it.

dallanta, I'm sorry to hear that. You seemed excited about going.

Thraxas

$65k is the amount calqueen quoted for Thule, Greenland. Flynn obviously got confused. He must have been drowning in alcohol when he typed that. :-D

I see they are advertising at ecalibration.com

They also have the salary scales...which are pretty good...

They do look fairly decent. I wonder what the USAF equivalent of a TMDE Foreman is? :?

Doesn't Greenland have polar bears?  :-o

dallanta

No, wouldn't call you a coward, maybe I am cheaper than you? LOL

Pimpin ain't cheap or easy man!    No seriously, if I was single, I believe 100K is pretty hard to turn down.  My domestic unit however does not see me in the sand box!   Could pay ALOT of bills off and that dream vacation to Egypt, The Yucatan, Peru and Australia, at one TIME!!!!!!!!!

It's not that hard to turn down. The low comfort level doesn't make the job that desirable. Now, if they added another 40 or 50k to the salary, I might reconsider.
