I have a couple of 1030MHZ oscillators that are not in good shape. Is there anywhere in the US I can send them for repair. I know they are obsolete.

DISCLAIMER: I know nothing about these units. I just posed the question to somebody that works on them.

WHAT I GOT OUT OF IT: Convince them to replace it with a 155, also most people just use one of the oscillators and not both - if so see if you can farm one out of another unit.

Reminder:  I know nothing about these.

Wow, the 137A is still in business?
I went to school on those suckers before I went over to the P.I. in '79.
Last time I saw one was '83, so I'm no help.
Can't just drop-check it, unfortunately.
It's okay to be ignorant, as you can always ask questions, but there is no cure for stupidity.

You can try picking up a complete unit for cheap here:  http://web.govliquidation.com/index.html
Just search for 137a and about 5 auctions come up.

BTW, I haven't seen one of those around the AF for about 7 or 8 yrs now...  I didn't think anyone was still using those things!

Good luck,
Jesse

Thanks for the link, Jesse.
flamy78, if you change the colors in IE tor links to a color other than the default, it will look different, but I don't see it as a problem I can't live with.

No problem Howie.

As for the links, that's the default for the theme.  It looks good everywhere but the dark blue blocks...

Just wanted to say now I know something about the 137 but not the RF areas. I don't dare say how much as somebody might want me to answer something I'm not qualified to. I can and will say if you've never done any part of one then you need a guide to walk you around the missing steps in the kpro and other issues on vagueness and total lack of clarity. There's at least 1 typo , 1 extra step, and 3 missing steps up to step 4.3 area.

I few other things that you really gotta have somebody around to ask and you'll still go wtf that's not what it says or how i read it.

Maybe you need to taking a reading test. You seem to have problems following calibration procedures in general. :-P

I read what's there. This is not a job where you are supposed to read between the lines and you are not given much room to do so. Only because this is not an area where I will regularly work and people are opposed to the thought I already had I will not submit a 22. I instead will point out the simple typos as such.

Ever heard of tribal knowledge?
If someone's guiding you, the last thing you need to be doing is pointing out simple typos. Your trainer should be able to detect and work around those simple typos, especially considering he should have a lot of experience calibrating 137's with that procedure. You say you're not supposed to read between the lines, but it sounds as if you're nitpicking and splitting hairs over a procedure that doesn't give anyone else problems. Don't you think it's belittling and counterproductive to tell the person who's assisting you that he's wrong, especially when you have no prior knowledge of the calibration? If you're not qualified, you should just be quiet and listen. You might actually learn something.
As for tribal knowledge, I've heard of it in reference to tribes, but I've never heard of it in reference to a PMEL. It sounds like you're just talking out your a**. :-P

TESS LLC in AZ, (www. tessllc-az. com; info@tessllc-az. com)
PMEL Tech used to work on An/APM424-V2(V3), An/UPM137A at Teledyne Electronics, then Litton now Northrop Grumman, (UPM137, APM424 built there), and TEL Instruments avionic equipment.

You might try ordering the board assembly and see if it comes. The Item manager for the card assembly may still repair these.   Check with the item manager to see if they have card assemblies in repair cycle.  Robins AFB use to repair the Complete units.   Not sure which Depot managed the cards.
You can find IM in Fedlog or DLA Logistics data book.    I worked as a logistics liaison for SAC in the 1980's at Kelly AFB.
