Well, as many of you know my 7 yr old Jonah is a type 1 diabetic. He has been for 1yr and 11 months. In that time he has taken 3,237 shots. As of yesterday we went to Emory University and had him start insulin pump therapy. In stead of taken 4-5 shots a day (sometimes more) he only has to get a needle every 3 days. This also allows him more freedom with his life and better control of his blood sugar. It's almost like starting over for us and it is a lot of info too digest, but the benefits are great. He acted like it was Christmas morning yesterday when we got up to go to Emory. He has NEVER complained about the shots in the past and is a real trooper. I just thought I would give those that remember the struggles my family had in the beginning of all this diabetes stuff know how Jonah is doing.

PS. To PMEL_DevilDog... Jonah still carries his USMC coin in his pocket. For those who don't know DevilDog had the USMC make Jonah a honorary Marine and sent him digital cammies with name tags and promotional papers too. Jonah's dream is to be a Marine. I will post some pictures of Jonah with his new pump within a few days for all to see.

Coup,

That's great!  I'm glad to hear that he is doing well and that the pump will make his life that much easier.  Nobody should ever have to get stuck with a needle that many times.

God bless you man. I will say a prayer for you and your family tonight. I really get upset when kids have to go through these things. I know after a while the needle sticks become routine for the kid but no kid should ever have to go through "routine" pain.
