Depends on experience/work history - if interested, please send questions and resume to resume1@Transcat. com.

Jen, I'm sorry but that is a cop-out non-answer, and here, where the majority of people have oodles (yes that is a valid SI unit of measure) of experience, we expect and deserve at the very least the pay range you are working towards.

I currently work with a guy that worked for Transcat. They don't pay good at all. That's why he left. Maybe that's why he won't mention the pay. However, I know how some HR's won't let managers tell the pay range.

The pay really does vary dependent on experience and location- I'm not trying to purposely be vague.   We have made every effort to offer competitive salaries and benefits- we gather current salary information from industry sources (NCSLI, ASQ) and use that to set competitive pay rates - we also offer excellent benefits and profit sharing.

Please do send a resume to resume1@transcat. com- if it looks like you are a good fit for the position, we would contact you to discuss it in further detail, to include pay, benefits, responsibilities, etc.

Since the posting is here I will say that in addition to the benefits one can expect around $17/hr in Fenton, Mo.  That was a few years ago and probably just a starting amount.  Transcat will pay you enough to live in the area of the job.  If you find yourself interested in one of the available locations inquire personally to them.  Send them your resume.  Continual criticism isn't helping.  It was asked and responded to.

Sorry Broken Wings I'm not trying to criticize, but on the same token I don't see why I, or anyone else should waste their time buffing up their resume and applying for a position not knowing if the pay is even what they are currently making.

All companies have a range that they will pay for any job at every location, all dependent on many things, area pay levels, duties, experience required, desire for a good technician or willing to settle for a second tier, etc. I know that, so do you, and so do they. So tell us the range. My company has a target for new hire and then it's about ±20% from that, so just state that window.

Me? No, I'm not looking for a job. And damn sure not for a 45% pay cut. So you have at least put an approximate value on that position. Whether or not its a guess, informed or otherwise, who knows, but you have at least provided some data to be evaluated. We all live on data, so the more we have the better we can function.

Just like I don't feel its fair for companies to request my salary history when I apply for a position. Just because I happen to be working for a cheap two-bit company now, don't think you can low-ball me because of it. There may be many factors that you don't have access to, personal reasons, whopping good employer funded retirement, super vacation, or maybe it was because my wife's mother lived there and we had to live there also until she passed away from cancer. But you don't know that.

So please HR people, open up, expand your information exchange and maybe you can save everyone a lot of wasted effort instead of the old fallback of "it depends on qualifications".

Me? I've got over 30 years, bench, QA, lead tech, senior metrologist, supervisor, etc. So I can most likely do or have done just about everything you desire, but unless you indicate that you are willing to pay something at least close to what I would accept, then why should I even waste my time and your time sending in a resume?

OK, back down off the soapbox. I've had a good vent, I feel better and I think I'll go get another budweiser.

Many things have changed in 9 years. . . Benefits are very good, and pay is competitive per ASQ and NCSL pay surveys.
