Job Title: Metrology Technician II
Location: Johnson Space Center, TEXAS

Job Description:
Apply knowledge in measurement science, mathematics, physics, and electronics to calibrate measurement and test equipment (MTE) in Electronic and Physical/Dimensional disciplines.
   Perform calibration and verification measurements of M&TE under minimal supervision
   Perform calibrations IAW established calibration procedures, technical material and M&TE operator manuals
   Make final processing decisions regarding the appropriate status of serviced M&TE
   Develop, revise, and suggest improvements or corrections to calibration procedures and associated datasheets
   Validate newly developed or revised calibration procedures and datasheets to ensure technical adequacy, correctness of measurement methodology, appropriate selection of traceable standards to provide best measurements, sufficiency of calibration instructions to ensure the ability to replicate the calibration, consistency between datasheets and calibration procedures, and overall content sufficiency
   Incorporate and perform measurement uncertainty and measurement decision risk calculations to applicable and identified calibration activities
   Possess and demonstrate an excellent mathematics aptitude and be able to instruct other technicians of the appropriate application as applied to calibration activities
   Work with other technicians, management, quality personnel, and customers to achieve excellent final product service results which comply with Quality Management System and customer requirements.
    Train and mentor other technicians in calibration activities and disciplines with which you are proficient; ensure training is recorded.
   Assist in developing subject matter materials necessary for training and knowledge retention of: metrology practices, measurement methodologies, Standards operation and maintenance, and laboratory operations.
   Demonstrate a good understanding of workload management and organizational skills; assist senior technicians as required to manage workload to include In-place scheduling
   Perform general M&TE troubleshooting, determine appropriate solutions, and implement resolutions Work with computer workstations and software necessary to: 1) Process calibration related documentation; 2) Access required policies, procedures, instructions, and training material; 3) Operate automated or semi-automated calibration procedures; 4) Communicate with staff and customers, and research M&TE information in support of calibration activities; 5) Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, and Outlook
   Be able to perform in-place calibrations and lift heavy equipment ( 50 lb) as required (e.g. may be required to perform repeated lifting, extended standing and/or walking)
   Adhere to, and maintain awareness of, NASA, JSC, and local laboratory safety procedures and policies. Must utilize all necessary safety equipment and protective clothing required for the job. Keep work areas neat and clean
   Working knowledge and familiarity with ANSI/NCSL Z540.3, and ISO/IEC 17025 standards, and be able to help ensure laboratory activities meet compliance requirements of these standards.
   Hold and maintain an American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) certification.

Requirements –Experience/Education
•   7+ years of experience in Calibration/Metrology , AND
•   12 months experience performing duties of a Metrology Technician I AND
•   2 years college or higher education, OR
•   Calibration training from a military or technical school
•   CCT certification (new employees must obtain no later than 2 exam cycles from date of hire)
•   U.S. Citizen
•   Successfully pass background investigation
•   Minimum AA degree, formal military PMEL/TMDE/DOD training, or equivalent
•   Experience working under ISO9001, ISO/IEC 17025, and/or ANSI/NCSL Z540.3 management systems
