I have to move to FL (ailing Mother and Father-in-law) are there any openings anywhere that will respond to a resume even if they have a posting up.

Why not try Davis Inotek I hear they are a great place to work?

Sypris Test and Measurement in Orlando has jobs posted.  It is a very good company to work for.  They are listed on Monster.

This is who I work for and have for the past 2 1/2 years.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN:

A veteran - whether on active duty, honorably discharged, retired, national guard, or reserve - is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to The 'United States of America', for an amount of 'up to and including my life.'

That is Honor, and there are way too many people in

Jim

You really think Sypris is a good place to work? Can you tell me why you think that?

Keep your eyes open for Metrology job postings on Monster for either HTSI (Honeywell Technical Solutions Inc) or Honeywell International for the Clearwater Florida facility.   The lab has been running short handed for the past year and rumor has it HTSI will be taking over the management of the lab and hiring.
Metrology,
1972 to present, the changes have been interesting!

I used to work for Sypris in Orlando and I would recommend working for them. It is a good company and good people.

What is a good starting wage in Florida? I have been told that Junior Techs get hired for around $25 an hour to start down there?

Sypris seems to have a decent operation going, but one of the managers seems to have a bias against career military (for personal reasons I assume).  Part of their hiring process involves personality screening and an actual calibration test.  If your theory is rusty, I would break out your old school books and study.  Even if you know you are a good tech, doing poorly on their calibration test won't be a good indicator of that in thier eyes.  Don't apply for the lab manager position unless you have been one already and can adequately impart your skills and knowledge as such during an interview.  They have been trying to fill that position at Orlando for about 6+ months now and no one seems to be good enough to fill the slot.  It might have more to do with those doing the interviews vs.  those applying.

They also need you to have gone to PMEL school or they wont talk to you. been doing calibration 15 years and cant get past their preinterview. as soon as I say I didn't go to school the whole interview changed. I only hear good things about the company though. noone I have talked to says anything bad about them.

Actually, I think they will take an Associates in Electronics degree. There were some there when I worked for them. I may be wrong on that so don't quote me. They are a very good company to work for and Paul Bassett ( I think he is the VP of OPs now) is a very reliable person to work for.

Maybe you should try applying at the local Wal-mart? I hear they are paying almost as much as Calibration Labs?

If you haven't found anything go to the United Space Alliance website.   We just posted a job (not sure if it is for electrical or mechanical) and we should be posting another position soon.

inLikeFlynn, could u PM about where you work because I know of a similar situation with USATA DOD labs, but some techs will get a wage hike while others will get a wage cut, but this all hinges on whether the job title changes from elect tech to metrology tech.  This particular situation stems fro a DOD wage determination investigation.  Thanks.
