Fiber Optic Study Material

I am seeking advice from anyone with experience in optical calibration, I am specifically interested in study material for fiber optic calibration.

I have the AF spectrometer school and 8 years experience in a laser gyroscope manufacturing environment so I am looking for journeyman level stuff.

I am specifically interested in fiber optic quality standards and polishing/splicing techniques and equipment.

If anyone knows of something like the HP "Connector Care" manual for fiber optic connectors that would be very welcome.
