Job Description:

Provide calibration, verification, troubleshooting/repair and preventive maintenance services for specialized inspection, measuring and test equipment, as well as associated peripherals and material.

Support Metrology engineers in measurement standards engineering, automation projects (including custom software development) and R&D/Manufacturing technical measurements. Included technical skills are to read/interpret schematics, printouts, procedures and specifications, understand and capably work with measurement traceability and uncertainty, and to stay abreast of relevant technology.

This position will have an emphasis on using and calibrating vector network analyzers, power meters and sensors, distortion analyzers, synthesizers, generators, spectrum analyzers, electronic counters, RF measurement receivers, amplifiers, filters and attenuators from 1KHz to 50 GHz.

Important associated skills include helping to administer the corporate calibration database and other metrological/procedural records and to expeditiously and effectively communicate relevant information to department personnel as well as to company clients, outside vendors, government entities and others - especially as it relates to company quality.

Applies extensive knowledge of the job skills, company policies and procedures to complete complex, specialized assignments/tasks in creative and effective ways. Comprehensive understanding of the general/technical aspects of the job.

Works on assignments that are complex in nature and require considerable judgment, initiative, and technical/specialized knowledge to resolve problems and/or develop recommended solutions. Work is completed with minimal supervision and assignments may be completed without established procedures.

May determine methods and procedures for new assignments.
Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:

•   Five years or more relevant experience.
•   Proficient in using and calibrating scalar / vector network analyzers, power meters and sensors, distortion analyzers, synthesizers, generators, spectrum analyzers, electronic counters, RF measurement receivers, amplifiers, filters, attenuators, etc. from 1KHz to 50GHz.Working knowledge of microwave principles associated with determining s-parameters, VSWR, complex impedances, voltage and power levels, noise factor, intermodulation distortion products, etc.
•   Working knowledge of Metrology principles such as measurement uncertainties, test uncertainty ratios, English/metric unit conversions, calibration standard hierarchy, proficiency testing, etc.
•   Good understanding of laboratory accreditation requirements per ISO/IEC 17025
•   Good understanding of quality guidelines per ISO 9000 series publications
•   Basic competency in algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
•   Versed in manipulating logarithms, dBs, dBms, scientific notation, etc., and using scientific calculators.
•   Possesses good troubleshooting skills, component level repair skills and reading / interpreting electronic circuit schematics.
•   Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
•   Experience with Keysight (formally Agilent) TME automation software and Fluke MetCal/MetTrack software a plus.
•   Experience in calibrating EMC test equipment i.e. EMI receivers, pre-selectors, quasi-peak detectors, etc. a plus.
•   Experience in writing code for automation measurement applications a plus.
•   ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) certification a plus
•   Two year A.S. degree in electronic, electrical, mechanical, or metrology, or military PMEL School, or equivalent (formal experience may offset part of the education requirement).
•   Clear verbal and written communication skills.
•   Strong interpersonal skills and good team player.
•   Demonstrated mechanical dexterity.
•   Superior safety and housekeeping skills.
