Can anyone tell me why the entire lab of a PMEL is 73 +/-6?????????

Why was the K6 area grouped into this????

I understand that most electronic calibrations are referenced to 73...............though all Phys-D standards are referenced to 68. This boggles my mind as to why the entire lab was put at 73 +/-6.........most K6 calibrations can be performed at 73 or 72,  Though the uncertanities will always be applied to 79, regardless of the temp in the lab. I know this mainly deals with IIB's........but what was the reasoning and also......WHY????

Anyone with an opinion or reason for this please respond......this is something that has always troubled me.

Happy New Year to you also you damn retired IM :-D Hope things are going good for ya.

Yeah I got an answer once about this..........it went something like this

"Because the enviromental controls at most places suck".......

Give me a damn break...if they suck.......fix em. We could hold a lab on a ship to 68 +/-2.......how hard can that be to do on land..... :?
