TITLE: Calibration Tech. II Salary Range: $40K - $48K Schedule: Days (8AM – 4:30PM)
Engineering Department Status : Non-Exempt Location: Carmel, NY
Description Summary: Under general supervision, performs journey level calibration duties; tests, calibrates, and repairs electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards.
Essential Job Functions: This is not intended as a comprehensive list; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.
• Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects.
• Measures parts for conformity with specifications.
• Aligns, repairs, replaces, and balances component parts and circuitry.
• Reassembles and calibrates instruments and equipment.
• Devises formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations.
• Performs all in house calibrations and maintains appropriate documentation.
• Ensures all calibration standards are properly calibrated and certified.
• Executes engineering and calibration portions of equipment qualifications.
• Monitors HVAC parameters and changes temperature/humidity charts weekly.
• Assists manager in formulating test, calibration, repair, and evaluation plans and procedures to calibrate and maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment.
• Schedules, calibrates and verifies calibration of instrumentation under the Metrology program.
• Assists in specifying instruments and standards and in drafting new and revised SOPs.
• Participates in training programs which, result in the development of a successful working understanding of the material presented and to become proficient in assigned duties and tasks.
• Complies with all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
Min. Qualifications: Knowledge of:
• Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and other regulatory requirements.
• Principles and practices of metrology.
• Electronic and electrical systems.
• Principles of mathematical and statistical computations.
• Techniques of instrumentation repair.
• Techniques of calibration (temperature, pressure, dimensional, mass, humidity).
• English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
• Computer operations and Microsoft applications (Word, Access and Excel).
Skill in:
Troubleshooting problems, identifying alternative solutions and repairing equipment.
Communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course or work.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate's degree in metrology, electronic/electrical technology or a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one (1) year of calibration work experience, preferably in food, drug or cosmetic industry, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
I used to work for Watson. Its a pretty good company from my experience, except they sold the site I worked at. It was a good business decision though since we were not really very profitable for them compared to other sites. I would recomend them anyway, they are in a good industry and have a good future.
