Lead RF Technician (PMEL/Metrology)Location:
Kuwait (Supporting KAF)The Metrology Lead Support Technician provides training and advice for repair, calibration, and modification of the wide variety of complex precision measurement equipment utilized by the GOK activities. This discipline includes such measurement areas as impedance, attenuation, directivity, power, frequency (above 500 MHz), phase, pulse code modulation, VSWR, noise, sensitivity, gain; and encompasses the repair, calibration, and/or modification of items such as waveguide/coaxial frequency meters, RF signal generators, RF attenuators, spectrum analyzers, TACAN test sets, waveguide and coaxial directional couplers, RF power meters, VSWR indicators, slotted lines, automated test equipment, and other complex RF/microwave equipment.
Qualifications:A. The candidate must have a working knowledge of the basic concepts of electronics and science. This knowledge shall include basic electricity, electronics, circuit theory, digital logic, algebra, and physics. Typically, this knowledge would have been gained by the technician successfully completing a one-year certificate program in electronic technology from an accredited school or equivalent military training program OR
B. successfully completed a military precision measurement and calibration program or equivalent training from an accredited school AND
C. at least eight years experience operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating electronic Inspection, Measuring and Test Equipment (IM&TE) with at least three years experience in the microwave section of the laboratory.
Experience with equipment such as analog and digital multimeters, electronic counters, function generators, signal generators, analog and digital tape recorders, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and calibration laboratory measurement standards. Included must be demonstrated experience in troubleshooting IM&TE and measurement standards by making measurement with test equipment to identify problems to the component level and demonstrated basic electronic construction and repair skills including soldering and wiring, including the ability to perform these functions on delicate circuit cards.
