Here is a quote from the Australian Prime Minister:
"I am shocked and distressed at Steve Irwin's sudden, untimely and freakish death," Australian Prime Minister John Howard said. "It's a huge loss to Australia."
Now, What kills me is that he was "Shocked". I am shocked that he lasted this long. How can someone be shocked that Steve Irwin is dead? THe guy played with deadly animals every day. That's like sending a 2 year old to play in the interstate and saying " I'm shocked that he died". What the crap man? He has been asking for it a for a long time.
I will say that I enjoyed his exploits. He was fun to watch, but I am not shocked that he died. :|
I am shocked, safety was still one of his main concerns. This was a freak accident.
Nobody says "Crikey!" quite like he did...

I agree with Bradley
I knew that one day this would catch up with him, I guess I just didn't actually expect it to. How can there be a world without that crazy Aussie chasing down some of the most dangerous animals in the world and poking them with a stick? (so to speak) He'll be missed but I am not completely surprised that he died, just that he wasn't killed in some more violent fashion. I mean, you'd expect it to be more like a crocodile or something like that right? I did.
I liked his shows. His attitude was something and he really enjoyed doing what he did.
Just goes to show, just an uncommon accident can do it.
Stay away from poisonous animals and your chances of living will increase. :-D
