POSITION TITLE: Calibration Technician (LASER)
LOCATION: AFSPL, Newark, Ohio
SUPERVISOR: Photonics-Nucleonics Department Manager
POSITION CLASSIFICATION: FLS Non-Exempt
HOURS: As Noted in Collective Bargaining Agreement (Some Overtime May Be Required)
SALARY: $35.01 Hr.
JOB DESCRIPTION:The Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation (LASER) Technician is responsible for providing calibration and maintenance services on electrical/electronic equipment in the Air Force Primary Standards Photonics Laboratory. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturer's manuals or similar documents. Requires the ability to use complex test instruments, such as, direct energy sources, data collection systems, optical setups and other control equipment.
REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: 1. A technical/physic associate's degree or higher, related equivalent experience will be considered.
2. Excellent working knowledge of calibration and maintenance of testing equipment. Military metrology is a plus, with knowledge of USAF CTO 00-20-14.
3. Possesses the knowledge required to read and understand schematics and wiring drawings. Setup and operation of LASER and photometric measurements is a plus.
4. Familiar with requirements in ISO/IEC 17025.
5. Must be a U.S. citizen.
6. Must be able to qualify for or have successfully completed a National Agency Check investigation within the last ten (10) years.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Essential Typical Duties:
- Maintains, repairs and calibrates LASER Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE)
- Safely use Direct Energy Sources IAW federal guidelines
- Performs general maintenance and overhaul procedures; uses TMDE to troubleshoot and repair equipment. Perform other related duties as assigned
Non-Essential Duties:

Lifting/Moving Requirements ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
