Have any of you guys had a problem with the 2500 not wanting to go to 90%. The display says it's at 90% but all my TI's are reading 85%. @ 80% the TI's read around 76%. I called Jeff at Thunder Scientific and he is helping me, but I need this resolved as soon as possible. Please don't tell me I have to recal this best again!!!!!
I never heard anyone complain about these chambers. I hope someone out ther can help me before tomorrow. I know Jeff can help me, but that consist of over the phone troubleshooting ( Yuck! ). I just want an answer.
What temperature are you at will trying to acheive 90%???

Bump her on up to about 25C...or 30C.
When I did CT485's at Moody, I would do the 90% at 110F, never had a problem. If I tried it at 68F, It couldn't generate it.
She doesn't like to make high humidity at low temps. Don't be afraid and heat her up and get her wet.

Let me go back and read the Vaisala manual. I thought that you had to cal those at 20Deg.C . I am almost sure that I have ran 90% at 20 Deg. C before.
I believe you are correct, most Vaisala instruments are rated @ 20°C. I would hesitate to deviate too far from that because, while better than most, I have still seen some temperature induced error on my Vaisala probes.
I always rubber band the 2500 chamber probe to the humidity probe so I know the humidity display of the chamber (PcTc) is actually being calculated at the UUT probe temperature.
I also got, I think Jeff calls it a "concentrator" from them that seems to improve response tremendously. All it is is piece of about 2 inch copper tubing reduced down to 1/4 NPT inlet. Put your test probe in that and it will stabilize in minutes.
I'm running mine to 90% @ 20°C right now. We'll see what my Vaisala reads in a bit.
OK, my HMI41/HMP46 read 89.3%RH @ 19.9°C. The 2500 read 90.00%RH and 20.02°C
The Thunder was just calibrated with absolutely no adjustments required, in fact it was so good it was scary. And the Vaisala was calibrated a few months ago also, again with no adjustments required.
Also for what its worth, we finally got the final results of the Humidity ILC/PT from NAPT last month and my reported value @ 90% RH was 0.30% RH below the established reference value of the artifact, a Vaisala HMP75 probe with M170 indicator.
I run mine with the " concentrator " also . I talked to Jeff at Thunder Scientific and I think I have the problem licked. I will let you know in a few hours.
Let me know what the problem was so I'll know what to do if I run into something similiar.
I can tell you that we had a power outage and the 2500 was running when the power went off. I found a bunch of the settings incorrect. For example the PRESAT needs to be at 40 DegC and it was reset to 1.00 DegC. I am going through all the settings right now in the hidden menu. I will keep you updated.
Wow, I had forgotten all about the hidden menu it's been so long. Hope you got it all back working OK. Jeff and Brad at Thunder are sure helpful and knowledgeable. It's really refreshing to work with a company like theirs that treats their customers so well. I could provide a LONG list of companies that really just don't give a damn after your check has cleared.
Thunder Scientific and Hart Scientific are two great companies that take care of their customers
Actually Hart was a lot better before they were bought out by Fluke. They are still pretty good, but they've gone a lot more "corporate".
That's why I like going to the NCSLI. It's great to have direct contacts with the companies that we have to deal with.
I have two Thunders and I run them off N2. We have a huge storage flask outside. Noise? What Noise?
We do the exact samething (N2), but I only have one. :|
