Someone told me their son is a Marine working in Florida (Active duty) I can not think what base he would be on?
Most likely NAS Jacksonville (Lax Jax), NAS Pensacola, or Blount Island. But there are more detachments on other bases as I found out doing onsites.
They're Marines....anywhere they want..OOHRAA
When I was stationed at MCAS Beaufort, SC, we had to send/augment a Marine Calibrator to Marine Corps Blount Island Command, Jacksonville, Florida for a six month deployment to support the Maritime Prepositioning Ships program. I think sometime later the Marine Corps made it a permanent duty station assignment for the calibration MOS.
When I did onsites on Blount Island at a Defense/Aersospace company I found it amusing to watch Marines in formation about to go PT on a blazing hot day! Brought back some memories. I also had a friend I went through GCAMS in Biloxi with that was stationed at Blount Island at the time. Since it was a multi day onsite we were fortunate to be able to meet him for dinner and drinks one night. He told me that he was really just a calibration coordinator there. They were sending all their equipment to NAS Jacksonville for calibration. This was 6-7 years ago. Glad I never got stuck at a duty station that didn't have calibration standards to work with!
