JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Develops and evaluates calibration systems that measure characteristics of objects, substances, or phenomena, such as length, mass, time, temperature, electric current, luminous intensity and derived units of physical or chemical measure.  Identifies magnitude of error sources contributing to uncertainty of results to determine reliability of measurement process in quantitative terms.  Redesigns or adjusts measurement capability to minimize errors.  Develops calibration methods and techniques based on principles of measurement science, technical analysis of measurement problems and accuracy and precision requirements.  Advises others on methods resolving measurements problems and exchanges information with other metrologist personnel through participation in industrial standardization committees.

JOB DUTIES:

• Basic knowledge of metrology concepts as the comparison of two instruments or measuring devices, one of which is a standard of known accuracy traceable to NIST, to detect, correlate, or eliminate by adjustment any discrepancy in accuracy of the instrument or measuring device being compared with the standard.
• Able to test, calibrate, repair Electrodynamometers, Moving-Iron Movement meters, Thermocouple Thermometers, Electrostatic Meters, Wattmeters, Clip-On Ammeters, Frequency Meters and Special Meter Designs.
• Able to perform Linear and Optical measurements of length, angle and deviation from a line or plane with the use of precision rulers, micrometers, measuring machines, collimators, transits, telescopes, theodolites and comparators.
• Able to measure accurately straightness, squareness, roundness, concentricity and surface texture.
• Able to perform time domain and frequency domain measurements.
• Perform precision laboratory measurements of voltage, current, resistances, watts, phase angle, power, db, harmonic distortion, conductance, conductivity and noise.
• Test, repair, adjust and calibrate all types of telemeter transmitters, filters, recorders, watt controllers, thermal converters, oscilloscopes and process calibrators.
• Inspect, repair, adjust and calibrate measuring and test equipment (M&TE), laboratory standards and related equipment in the Standard Laboratory.
• Test, analyze, repair calibrate and certify all types and classes of complex precision measurement equipment such as electronic, electrical, electromechanical and mechanical devices.
• Test, repair, adjust and calibrate all types of instruments and meters.
• Test, repair, adjust and calibrate radio frequency meters, monitors and special test equipment.
• Test, repair, adjust and calibrate pressure instruments such as manometers, bourdon tubes, fluid columns, pressure transmitters, pressure intensifiers, barometers, bourdon gauges, duplex gauges, compound gauges, quartz bourdon gauges, bellows gauges, dual pressure switches, single pressure switches, differential switches and calibration valves.
• Test, repair, adjust and calibrate all types of torque wrenches, torque screwdrivers, and torque testers.
• Able to accurately test rotational motion parameters such as angular displacement, elapsed time and angular velocity.
• Able to accurately test, repair, adjust and calibrate force, mass, gravitational, and balance equipment.
• Able to accurately test, repair, adjust and calibrate temperature, humidity and buoyancy, dew point equipment.
• Comply with established procedures and with rules of Code of Federal Regulations, Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulatory guides, National Standards and other regulatory agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications, Experience, & Physical Requirements:
An Associate's degree in an Engineering discipline from a recognized technical school of collegiate grade or a minimum of five (5) years of work experience in the Instrumentation and Controls field with one year work experience performed in nuclear power plant production or equivalent.

Minimum Experience
Minimum of 3 years of working experience in their specialty.
Minimum of 1 year of the experience should be related technical training.
High degree of manual dexterity.
Individuals in training or apprentice positions are not considered technicians or maintenance personnel for purposes of defining qualifications in ANSI/ANS 3.1 section 4 (Qualification) but are permitted to perform work for which qualification has been demonstrated.

ANO, GGNS, IPEC, RBS, and W3 candidates must meet or exceed ANSI/ANS 3.1-1978
ANSI Section 4.5.2 Technicians The standard specifies this as Journeymen Level Personnel.
