THIS IS WHY:
Sheriff Joe Arpaio (in Arizona ) who created the "tent city jail":
He has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them.
He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails. Took away their Weights and Cut off all but "G" movies.
He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city projects.
Then he started chain gangs for women so he wouldn't get sued for discrimination.
He took away cable TV until he found out there was a federal court
order that required cable TV for jails. So he hooked up the cable TV
again only let in the Disney channel and the weather channel.
When asked why the weather channel he replied, so they will know how hot its gonna be while they are working on my chain gangs.
He cut off coffee since it has zero nutritional value.
When the inmates complained, he told them, "This isn't the Ritz/Carlton. If you don't like it, don't come back."
He bought Newt Gingrich' lecture series on videotape that he pipes into the jails.
When asked by a reporter if he had any lecture series by a Democrat, he replied that a democratic lecture series might explain why a lot of the inmates were in his jails in the first place.

With temperatures being even hotter than usual in Phoenix (116 degrees just set a new record), the Associated Press reports: About 2,000 inmates living in a barbed-wire-surrounded tent encampment at the Maricopa County Jail have been given permission to strip down to their government-issued pink boxer shorts.
On Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing boxers were either curled up on their bunk beds or chatted in the tents, which reached 138 degrees inside the week before.
Many were also swathed in wet, pink towels as sweat collected on their chests and dripped down to their pink socks.
"It feels like we are in a furnace," said James Zanzot, an inmate who has lived in the tents for 1 year. "It's inhumane."
Joe Arpaio, the tough-guy sheriff who created the tent city and long ago started making his prisoners wear pink, and eat bologna sandwiches, is not one bit sympathetic. He said Wednesday that he told all of the inmates: "It's 120 degrees in Iraq and our soldiers are living in tents too, and they have to wear full battle gear, but they didn't commit any crimes, so shut your damned mouths!"
Way to go, Sheriff! Maybe if all prisons were like this one there would be a lot less crime and/or repeat offenders. Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's time for their parole, only to go out and commit another crime so they can get back in to live on taxpayers money and enjoy things taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves.
Sheriff Joe was just reelected Sheriff in Maricopa County, Arizona.
Frickin' sweet! Why can't we have more people that get this? People keep saying "we can't do that to prisoners! It's inhumane!" I think these people forgot why they're inmates in the first place. Kudos to this Arizona sherriff who understands what "prison" is supposed to be!
I like this guy. I remember when he first started his tent jail back in the 90's. I thought the ACLU would shut him down and they tried. I want this guy to run for President.

Where I live in Butler County, Ohio we have Sheriff Richard Jones. He has apparently made it his mission in life to rid the county of illegal aliens, rounding up as many as he can find and arresting them, calling in INS to do their thing... An overwhelming majority of the citizenry support his efforts (except the liberal professors at Miami University (Ohio), but their protests can't be heard over the cheering applause...)

Here's the Beef!
I've been talking about doing something about the illegal aliens in Butler County since last October. Well, talk became action yesterday with the arrest of ten illegals and it's just a start. For those that have been asking, "Where's the beef?", I can only say, "Dinner is served" and it's the first of many.
I have said for months now that I intend to address the problem of illegal aliens who are driving up my inmate housing costs and causing other negative effects on Butler County. Working closely with I.C.E. we've been able to start making arrests of illegal aliens. In addition to the charge of illegal immigration, they were arrested on warrants for other serious crimes, and/or false documents.

Boycott Employers of Illegals!
All this talk about so-called "immgrants" staying home, not buying goods, or having rallies on May 1st got me thinking that maybe the rest of us should boycott county businesses that hire illegal aliens!
We can make statements too! Let's all ask businesses "are you in the practice of hiring illegal immigrants?" And if they are, don't do business with them! If they see that this practice is HURTING their businesses, maybe they'll realize that maybe breaking the law for additional profit isn't the wise thing to do!
I'm doing my part, county businesses that are known to hire illegal aliens should expect the type of raids that were executed at a business in Evendale earlier this week.
You know who you are, and we're coming.
Today, I have a billboard going up on I-75 near the 129 exit putting the employers of illegal aliens on notice that they are breaking the law and I intend to enforce it. By making employers clearly aware they are breaking the law by hiring illegal aliens, I feel I can make this practice less desirable.
These employers need to know they are breaking laws just like the illegal aliens they employ, and I treat all criminals equally.
We're turning up the heat, and I predict a long, hot, Summer.
More law enforcement need to take that kind of action. I think they should all be charged with Conspiracy to Smuggle Humans. This is a felony and the great Sheriff in the South West has already been doing this ( Mericopa County, Arizona ).
