Title: Re: ***Lab Manager Job opening - San Diego CA***
Post by: PurelyNonsense on 08-13-2018 -- 08:59:53
In order for me to want that position, it would have to pay pretty well considering it's in CA. Plus, it'd have to be even better because I'd have to live in CA

Even $100k a year in SD would be lower middle class

Is there anything to be gained by going over the same complaints whenever a cali job gets posted?
Asking for a friend... :-D

It's the principle of the thing. To warn other calibrators looking for a job to avoid certain areas or ask for certain pay ranges. It's a public service!

What Nonsense said.  Its mostly to inform the younger folk, maybe fresh out of the military, that making 40 or 50k a year may seem like big money compared to what you made in the military but is peanuts when considering the cost of living in certain areas such as California.

Maybe the helping can be done in a different discussion? I would be hesitant to post jobs on a board where the majority of the conversation consisted of people complaining about the area and pay when, really, the pay isn't even posted. I don't think I saw anyone ask what the salary was.

We have a lot to discuss about California. I'm from here and I'm not in the least bit offended. I think it's pretty funny. If not funny it should at least serve as an eye opener for anyone thinking about relocating here. The comments might be snarky but pretty factual as well.

I wasn't questioning the factuality of the comments, only the forum and the snark is fine and entertaining a times. It appears to be the same comments on every single job posted in California from the same folks. Maybe they should be start a different thread about pay scales rather than piling on every single Cali job that gets posted?
Has anyone even asked what the pay range is for this job?

I'd like to point out the plus side of living in California:
#1 We have Maxine Waters
#2 We have Nancy Pelosi
#3 Gavin "open borders/universal income/gun ban" Newsom is a virtual lock be our next Governor
#4 We have Kamala Harris
#5 When Kamala Harris is elected POTUS, you'll be able to say-"Hey, she's from my state!"
#6 We had Barbara "I'll lie about anything" Boxer
#7 We have Hollywood actors, actresses, and directors-well you know-great patriots and supporters of American values and traditions, AND highly respectful of our president

Topic now split since the discussion does not pertain to the specifics of the job posting.

It's fine to ask questions and discuss specifics in the job postings, but let's keep the generalities to their own topics. Thanks.
