The other day I had a customer tell me MET/CAL 8.xx will not Run on Windows 10. I said what? I am running in on Windows 10. So I talked with Doug and he sent me this link...

Hope this helps some users...
That's crazy. It should never be that complicated to install software.
I feel the need to rant for a moment, lol. I don't know if it's lack of developer talent, but metrology software in general has absolutely atrocious usability. Every product I've seen has been designed by programmers with a focus on data entry (creating new procedures/equipment data) instead of technician usage. A technician doesn't care how flexible your software is, they'd rather not have to tell the software anything it can infer, they'd rather hook up some equipment and sometime later a report is made without interacting with the software at all. This should be the goal and every decision made during the design process that does not allow this is a compromise. It IS possible, but so many developers get caught up in focusing on flexibility and general solutions that the main purpose of the software is forgotten.
Not really sure any of that is related to your post, but a product that requires publishing a 10+ page document on how to install it is just nuts.
N79, I agree software has not made our lives any easier, just a different kind of complication.
Everybody wants turnkey, bug-free, connect it and go software. The problem is they want it for FREE.
Then I get this all the time, we have all the standards, we use whatever you software call for! Next phone call, the _____ is down or out of calibration, can you change it to the _____!
I would like to see what you think about the complexity or simplicity of Metrology.NET. My goal was to simplify things, but keep the software flexible at the same time. It came with some costs and compromises. But I really don't think there is anything on the market that is faster to create and run automation.

OK, every tech wants that software to do everything for them, so why did you go to school? The computer makes it easier but if it did everything you would be out of a job, collecting unemployment. By the way, I am not collecting unemployment. I started working for Mike at CalLabSolutions on the 1st of May, 2018. I am trained as a Navy Calibration Tech and worked as a Tech and Cal Lab Supervisor at both military and civilian labs. However, I left the field in 2004. Anyway, Metrology.net is so easy from a technical standpoint. Since I have started I have done around 180 data sheets, we have tested several procedures using several different standard setups and it worked great. I wish we had this back in 2004, maybe I would not left the field. We should have around 300 or more procedures done by the end of the year. Check out Metrology.net and see if it would make your life easier.
