You must have a lot of kids...
That's crap pay and you know it. I tend to think we are worth more than average mechanics.

It was a joke sunshine.
You're getting offended by the pay? Don't apply.
The wages are not in our control. They are what they are. The benefits, however, are better than a lot of commercial jobs, as is the job security. Everyone has their own motivator for where they choose to work.
If you aren't interested, move on.
I get offended by the watering down of this industry. I live in Clearwater, FL so no I'm not interested in moving to Texas. I apologize if I offended you. This lab is a sinking ship and it's got me to the snapping point.

None taken, we just have no control over the pay scales. It's been like this for decades. I'm with you, techs should be paid about $10 more everywhere in the Fed service. Our "superiors" certainly manage to find a way to bump up their salaries...
I hope things go better for you where you're at.
Thank you. Yes, it's crazy how upper management keeps moving up the scale. Cost savings and ripping off the people that actually make the company money prevail. I don't know where I go from here. I took my MOS seriously and I'm upset most didn't. I want to work some where that appreciates my knowledge and doesn't allow failure. Been through a lot and I'm fed up.
Check out the pharmaceutical companies.
Pay is usually decent and there is little tolerance for mistakes. Tons of paperwork, very restrictive SOPs to follow and the routine FDA audits to endure. I am currently working for Catalent and honestly it isn't a bad place to work. We have 2 calibration positions currently open. Woodstock, IL and St Petersburg FL.
