Title: When is Data Required?
Post by: briansalomon on 06-22-2017 -- 14:52:12
I am working in an accredited (PJLA) lab and am not crystal clear on where it is defined which standards need data w/uncertainty and which do not.

We have been operating on the premise that primary standards require it but secondary standards do not.

I have been studying the PJLA Measurement Traceability Policy and don't see a clear definition there.

If you are an accredited calibration lab, your standards all need data and uncertainties or else you cannot calculate uncertainties for your customers.

Well I'm here to learn. You're right.

PL-2 says in 2.7.3   "a stated measurement result or value, with a
documented uncertainty" has to be included even for in-house calibartations.

I don't mind a little egg on my face as long as I learn something.

Thanks.

We should learn something new every day. When I stop learning. I'll be 6 ft under or in a coma.
