Title: Whats is the cal procedure for a 167C2209 Barrel Ersion Gage?
Post by: PMEL_DEVIL-DOG on 04-19-2006 -- 15:48:21
Can anyone tell the procedure for a  barrel erosion gage, p/n# 167C2209, or atleast the specs on what its cal'd to? AFCAV lists a 12 month cycle, users' cal, and list the T.O as 11M-12-4-32. I have a hard time believing that a any gage would be user cal, esp. one that measures the lanes and grooves inside of a 20mm gatlin gun in a F-16. I called the company and they were absoletely cluess even getting defensive thinking I was questioning their work. Could anyone help me out on this? :?

gimme a few days I'll check. WAIT... you said AFCAV? Nevermind that's what I'll use. Check GIDEP and DOD MIDAS.

Must be in the F-16 weapons summary, I can't see it on our AFCAV.  I checked GIDEP, and came up blank, and DOD MIDAS is no longer (been moved to METWEB).

F-16 CMS in AFCAV list the cal T.O. as 11W1-12-4-32.  Looking at the internet, that is an Air Force T.O., other than that I don't have any additional info.

If its anything like a breech bore gage I can help you out. My afcav does not find your part no. Did you say the gage measures barrel lands and grooves or the breech part?

This is the SE technical description and Application:
:?
The gage consists of a measuring head and a calibrated strip with two sets of etched numbers. The large diameter of the head is slightly larger than the inside diameter of the lands in the gun barrel. When the gage is inserted in the barrel, the head will contact the lands in the gun barrel.

cs137 - your AFCAV isn't showing the PN because you aren't searching using the F-16 CMS as your source document...you're probably just using the K100.  Go up to the top of the AFCAV page, click the arrow next to what looks like "books", then click "ALL".  Then go back and enter the part number and AFCAV will display the info.

DevilDog - sorry about the invalid address...I pulled that info right off the Wright-Patterson TO index online.  I copied all the other info here for you, maybe some of it is useful.  Maybe someone on this list will be able to provide you with the right contact person...good luck:
