Job Description:
Apply knowledge in measurement science, mathematics, physics, and electronics to calibrate measurement and test equipment (MTE) in Electronic and Physical/Dimensional disciplines, with an emphasis on Dimensional.
• Is responsible for the performance of basic calibration / verification measurements under minimal supervision of the particular metrology lab Lead Technician
• Must be able to work from established calibration procedures and comprehend technical material and manuals
• Must be able to make recommendations to correct calibration procedures and processes
• Must be able to make final processing decisions regarding the status of the equipment that they are calibrating
• Must be able to perform system level troubleshooting and provide input for corrections
• Must be able to work with the Local Area Network Computer workstations as well as computers that control several calibration disciplines in the metrology laboratory
• Maintains awareness of safety procedures and uses all safety equipment and protective clothing required for the job. Keeps work area neat and clean.
• Obtain and maintain American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) certification, if not a graduate from a formal training in calibration. CCT certification is desirable, though not required, for calibration training graduates.
• Must possess a mathematics aptitude and be open to learning various metrology disciplines
• Must be able bodied to perform in-place calibrations and lift heavy equipment as required (e.g. May be required to perform repeated lifting and considerable walking)
• Professional attitude and appearance required
• Able to cross-train in other calibration disciplines
• Self-starter and self-motivated
Requirements –Experience/Education
• Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED.
• Must have 2 years college or higher education OR have specialized training from a military or technical school in the specialty for which the work requires.
• Will have 2-5 years of experience in Calibration/Metrology or a specialty for which the work requires.
• U.S. Citizen
• Successfully pass background investigation
• Experience working under ISO9001, ISO/IEC 17025, and/or ANSI/NCSL Z540.3 management systems desired.
