Position Description:
We are seeking an experienced Metrology / Calibration technician experienced in inspection, measuring, and test equipment (IM&TE) calibration and repair.
Responsibilities include:
Calibrates a full range of physical, dimensional and electrical instruments and measuring devices with written instructions (such as department procedures, manufacturing specifications, industry and military specifications) to include laboratory standards.
Analyzes data generated in testing to correctly determine whether parameters meet compound specifications and uncertainties.
Interprets customer and industry specifications to determine accuracy requirements and test ranges.
Maintains accurate records of the parameters tested, findings, and tolerances of each gage or instrument calibrated.
Assists in the creation of test processes and procedures for new products when required.
Sets up and operates a variety of measuring and monitoring equipment to ensure repeatability of data during calibration testing.
Involves the measurement of temperature, pressure, mass, force, AC/DC voltage, frequency, resistance and capacitance.
Utilizes common analog and digital test equipment to test individual subsystems of inspection, measuring, and test equipment.
Provides training to apprentice technicians on metrology principle, resolving technical problems.
Performs repairs on inspection, measuring, and test equipment to the component level when required by defect or system failure.
Promotes a safety culture within the work area through continuous improvement and RCCA activities
Participates in improvement projects that provide business results.
Maintains equipment and work area in a clean and orderly manner.
Resolves group and customer issues, seeks to improve the overall productivity of the department, anticipates problems and initiates appropriate actions to eliminate them.
Assists customers to define technical requirements to meet their objective.
Basic Qualifications:
High School diploma plus two years of related experience.
Two year technical degree/certification or military training equivalent.
In lieu of technical certification, four years of related experience is required.
Additional Qualifications:
PMEL trained or equivalent highly preferred.
Determination of passing & failing results, and ability to comprehend complex tolerances.
Intermediate electronic test skills, with the ability to use oscilloscopes, digital & analog voltmeters, frequency counters and multifunctional calibrators.
Intermediate understanding of blueprints and schematic diagrams.
Ability to identify common component symbology.
Basic signal tracing ability.
Ability to lift up to 25 Lbs. to table height.
