I'm attempting to find a good quality cleaning solution for DMM inputs and various connectors. I can't remember the product authorized for use in the Corps. Any good suggestions?
Deoxit made by Caig is a good one in some applications. We like the 2 oz (or so) bottles with the needle tips. It is the red colored oil. Beware that it is conductive, and don't get it places where you don't want conduction. We normally take a very small amount on a cotton swab, and gently rub contacts.
Distilled white vinegar cheap, bio friendly, good on fried fish and french fries.
Will clean corrosion, dirt, oil and grease from just about anything
If you could change that to Cider Vinegar, it is also thought to be good to drink therapeutically for type II diabetes (I take capsules). Had to throw that in there.
Great for acid reflux too :-o

I mix a little apple cider vinegar into my water every day. Its supposedly doing me alot of good....although it makes the water taste horrible.
99.8% Ethanol works pretty good
Pure grain alcohol & rainwater for me.

I usually like my rainwater frozen solid in those situations
I like my rainwater in a second glass next to the alcohol...
Actually for a dmm input I use some isopropyl alcohol on a swab to clean the input connector than give it a shot of canned air, I have noticed it does help for high resistance range testing.
If the meter has provision for spade lugs I prefer those and clean spade lugs on the leads with an eraser.
isn't there an avionics corrosion control manual? lint free cloth, erasure, iso alc...

We use denatured alcohol, foam tipped swabs and canned air usually. The denatured alcohol tends to evaporate more fully, IMO. Keeps from dissolving the center pin adhesive on connectors/adapters.
