What You Will Do: As a Metrology Technician you will have the opportunity to independently test, calibrate, and repair electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards.  Assure compliance of Spectranetics internal and external testing in regard to regulatory and company requirements. We will be evaluating, developing, establishing and maintaining calibration methodologies, systems, and practices which meet world class standards.

What Success Looks Like: You will have the opportunity to execute a comprehensive calibration plan for the company and be responsible for the calibration of electronic and physical/dimensional measuring and test equipment to technical specifications, maintaining traceability to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

•   Conduct physical calibrations such as but not limited to calipers, micrometers, torque tools, ovens, temperature controllers, gage blocks, surface plates, pressure gages, scales and force gages
•   Redesign or adjust measurement capabilities to minimize errors.
•   Test, calibrate, and certify instrumentation.
•   Plan, coordinate, and expedite daily calibration projects
•   Recommend calibration standards and inspection, measurement, and test equipment.
•   Support development of calibration procedures and methods, according to detailed specifications, blueprints, drawings, and other technical requirements.
•   Be able to read and explain various types of blueprints.
•   Maintain detailed records of all calibration work performed and draft reports and certificates.
•   Additional responsibilities may be assigned, as required, by management.

Education/Experience Necessary:
•   Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (calibrating mechanical instrumentation)
•   Basic computer skills
•   Measurement sciences
•   Technical writing
•   Basic electronics
•   Quality Management Systems
•   Strong communication skills
•   Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements.
•   Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management.
•   Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures.




Special Requirements:
•   The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
•   Visual acuity necessary to do the job safely and effectively.
