Anyone who does power sensor cals have any info on this. It apparently connects to a virtual meter via USB, and there don't seem to be any automated procedures for it. Just wondering if anyone has done any research on calibration of this model (or its family) and if they can be done automated? Or is it a proprietary cal that the OEM won't allow outside labs to do.
Last I looked into this, you needed Rohde & Schwartz Recal+ software with their NRPC calibration kit to upload the cal data.

Unfortunately we only supported a couple of these, so I couldn't justify the cost.
I'd suggest getting hold of Cal-Lab Solutions to see if they have cracked this nut yet. PS-Cal has the most bang-for-buck when it comes to power sensor cal and alignment...it would be great to see a PS-Cal add on for the R&S sensors.
Thanks for the useful info. I know Michael. Maybe he'll read this post and respond. I did shop around at the various MetCal and SureCal places and didn't find that model. There is a user with quite a few of the NRP-Z91's. But the R&S info may be what I need. I have the Weinschel System with SureCal. Thanks again.
Not sure if this is what you are looking for. We have a few of these power sensors. We normally calibrate them manually. R&S has two software package (free I do believe) that can be used with this sensor. One is called the R&S NRPV Virtual Power Meter.
The other is Power Viewer.
One of these (forgot which one) provides a temporary access code, good for an hour.
The other software package is very basic. You can set the frequency and read the power level.
To the best of my knowedge our Lab did not purchase the software, believe it came with the unit.

This response is a bit late, but may be useful anyway.
To ADJUST a R&S NRP-Z sensor, you must use a library supplied by R&S. AFIK, the library is designed to interface with an NRP2 power meter. The user must collect specified data, arrange it into a file, then pass the file name to the library.
I do not think that R&S make the interface specification public, although they have agreed to share it with some companies, and the USAF may be able to negotiate to have that information.
My knowledge comes about through TEGAM agreeing with R&S to incorporate the library into our new MET/CAL procedures for NRP-Z51, 52, and 56. Our implementation uses MET/CAL to communicate with the NRP2 using GPIB, avoiding the issues with USB.
You can chart the sensor easily enough manually using the free software, or by making GPIB commands to an NRP2.
