JM Test Systems is looking for a Metrology Engineer for our corporate location in Baton Rouge, LA.
• Apply measurement science mathematics, physics, and engineering to design and develop systems, equipment, and methods for calibrating electrical, dimensional, optical, physical, and mechanical inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IM&TE).
• Analyze and solve calibration problems using advanced mathematical and engineering knowledge.
• Use statistics to analyze measurement standards and processes.
• Document and maintain calibration systems, procedures, and methods.
• Evaluate new calibration methods and procedures.
• Recommend calibration standards and IM&TE.
• Maintain calibration laboratory and/or departmental accreditation and quality systems.
• Perform laboratory and/or departmental administration and management.
• May develop software to assist in calibration laboratory and/or departmental processes.
Skill/Education Requirements
• Knowledge of measurement science, calibration principles, related math, physics and electronics principles.
• Knowledge of laboratory measurement standards used to calibrate inspection measurement and test equipment (IM&TE).
• Ability to perform light lifting of test equipment (up to 50 lb typical)
• Ability to sit at desk or test bench for extended periods (up to 2 hours typical)
• Exhibit good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in the metrology field with demonstrated knowledge and skills in at least one of the following: electronic equipment calibration or physical, dimensional, mechanical equipment calibration.
• Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering/physics discipline preferred. Significant experience and/or military training in measurement science, calibration or related field may be considered.
