Does anyone on here work for Tektronix? What are your per diem rates when you go on the road? I think it's $120 per night. And also how do you do that on the expense reports??
If that includes the Room Rate. That seems is very low. Most Rooms are $89 per night. With taxes closer to $100. That only leaves $20 to $25 bucks for food... (And Beer!)
Mike
Agilent used to give us $35 per day for food. It works out, but not enough for beer.
Last time I went somewhere that what the rates were but it has been a while seems like they never change though. If you are smart and shop around you can find a room in most places for about $70 then spend about $20 on food and pocket the other $30.
Depends on the area worked for Sypris (gobeled up by Tek) and when say I was in Van. Canada Per deim was subed by the customer.
I know it was a long time ago when you replied mike but that was the per diem rate. If you wanted to you could turn in receipts. I do not know what the cap was on the hotel rooms but the food was $40 a day. My buddy travels the country and he has some "discount card" for hotels he usually pays $50-$70 per night. Then $20 a day on food ( he does not eat much) and pockets the rest.
This web explain everything. when I don't know. I will come to see your answer.
Current per diem is $90 for hotel, $40 for meals.
So if you were smart about what you were doing on the road you could pocket $30-40 per night and more if you ended up on the road with a second technician and shared a room.
I've got a pretty good gig at one of my regular onsites and I stay with a friend who lives nearby. Pocket all the money :)
$35 per day where I work and hotel rooms are paid for...which vary from $70 to $120 per night.
I take it you do not work for Tektronix ZZ? I prefer the per diem because then you can actually pocket money. A lot of the Techs at Tektronix do not realize that you can get paid per diem but it is just dependent on how you fill out your expense report.
Here are nationwide per diem rates by state.

You guys getting $35 for food should send this site to the boss and see if you can get a bump. We did 4-5 years ago and currently get $50
When I was with Sypris in 2001 ish the rate was $100 per day for room and food. It was enough then for a best western and decent meal. My first route was in the Great Lakes region just after summer, the guys on the crew said they slept in tents quite a bit during the summer. Craziness...and I'm not sharing a room either.
