I inherited an RF standards lab and do not understand the uncertainty of the HP 8757E analyzer, 85027B Bridge and 11664E detector.
I am using an 8340B sweeper.
When I standardize the system as per the manual I get almost exactly the same loss readings as Wiltron gave for a set of 41KC-S attenuators. I don't thing this is an accident but I can't explain it because I am not an RF guy.
Any one who can help I'd appreciate it. :|
Brian,
Your question is rather complex to fully answer in a forum such as this. Since you are not an RF guy, Im not sitting next to you watching what is being done, I do not know your testing processs and I do not know the condition of your equipment and cables...to name just a few pieces of required info...it would be rather difficult to get you on point quickly.
Assuming you have a good working system, your uuts are good, you are following a valid procedure and process I would start by making sure you have good connections. Your cables are good, the connectors are good (cables and TE)
I suggest
Since you are not an RF guy, I will give you some advice. For starters, go find one. Second, get a better piece of equipment to test insertion loss than a scalar analyzer.
