Title: Kistler 5010B Dual Mode Amp Calibration
Post by: TMDE2013 on 09-27-2013 -- 15:22:22
I'm calibrating the Kistler 5010B Dual Mode Amplifier IAW 33K4-4-709-1. It's about the same size as the Bruel & Kaejer Type 2626 Condition Amp. The 5010B is inside a blue case and it has 3 rear BNC connectors.( Charge Input, Voltage Input, and Output).

I'm having problems with the Transducer Sensitivity and Scale Calibration. Does anyone know any special quirks about the equipment setup or cable peculiarities that may cause out of tolerance readings.  Terry

I do beleive there is a gain comp adapter or calibration capacitor that is required on the input to properly calibrate these

I seem to recall doing the B&K amps a number of years ago, and as mentioned, I believe you have to put an appropriate capacitor in series.  I think I used one of the General Radio with dual banana inputs.  I seem to recall it was fussy about just how you connected them.  Maybe had to disconnect the guard strap, and I ended up using the positive side of a couple of coax cables to provide needed shielding, or something like that.
