Job Description Manages and controls programs, equipment, and personnel involved in developing inspection methods and instruments in order to test sub-assemblies and completed products.

Responsibilities

• Develops and coordinates inspection and testing procedures for components and products.
• Ensures appropriate selection of testing equipment and test operating systems.
• Assists in designing and installing sampling systems, procedures, statistical techniques, testing mechanisms and equipment.
• Formulates test guidelines and procedures and may recommend revisions of specifications where necessary.
• Reviews technical reports for accuracy and adequacy.
• Investigates new technology opportunities for improving the efficiency and quality of new product development testing and coordinates implementation as appropriate.
• Coordinates a team of technicians and engineers in designing, supporting, and/or performing a wide range of product testing requirements.
• Will train others on functionally related topics.
• Will submit periodic reports on assigned projects/topics.
• Will interact, telephonically, or in person with customers.
• Will coordinate all resources and manage conflict as necessary.
• Will manage all aspects of Fixture personnel.
• Will coach and develop direct report subordinates.
• Will coordinate the activities of 4 or more exempt and/or non-exempt employees.
• Will evaluate the performance of 4 or more employees based on pre-established performance parameters.
• Responsible for assigned for assigned subordinate's compliance with company policies and corrective actions.

Physical Requirements

• Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
• Must have the ability to work with and assemble small objects and component parts.
• Ability to operate common office equipment (e.g. calculator, PC, telephone, etc.).
• Must have very good visual acuity and demonstrate fine motor skills.
Mental Requirements

• Excellent analytical skills.
• Demonstrated mechanical/electrical problem solving skills.
• Effective interpersonal communications skills.
• Demonstrated ability to operate small hand tools and test/inspection equipment.
• Advanced computer hardware/software skills.
• Must be able to resolve complex testing and/or equipment issues using independent judgment.
• Must be able to generate, follow and explain detailed instruction and inspection procedures.
• Ability to observe and correct minute inconsistencies (e.g. in the written word, test set up, etc.).
• Must be able to complete detailed documentation accurately.
Qualifications/Work Experience Preferred

• Must be able to complete detailed documentation accurately.
• Must be able to analyze and correct complex testing and/or systems issues of a broad scope using independent judgment.

• Demonstrated ability to operate small hand tools (e.g. pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, hammer, etc.), power tools and test/inspection equipment.

Education/Special Training Required

• Bachelor of Science, Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related
• 2-4 years related manufacturing test lab experience or equiv desired
• 2-4 years related supervisory experience
