Title: AF lab closure rumors
Post by: Broken_Wings on 05-08-2012 -- 15:42:34
There was a rumor that some were expecting some news at the end of April about some AF lab restructuring. I heard Dover is closing but not sure why. I just heard Kirtland is closing and they had jobs listed a few months ago.

random babble:
Icarus may have learned his lesson and will be flying low soon.

Kind of curious....

Where did you hear Kirtland was closing.  I saw several jobs posted on USAJobs from there.  Seems kind of strange??

No need to close or outsource any more USAF labs.  Employ 3 thousand technicians without relocating them into a lab.  Come on !  You know we need automation, but somebody doesn't want to get their feelings hurt by overachieving automators. So assign remote locations (you know we're all mostly introverts anyway), hook up the site with some computers and a bandwidth wide enough for a spaceship, and leave three technicians at the lab in rotating shifts (One(1) each craftsman, apprentice, and helper). You want to outsource to a contractor? Outsource to the one who would enjoy nothing more in life than to be out in the garage hooked up to a supercomputer 12/7 for the rest of their working lives.  The clone wars are here, and more sites with smaller crews will be needed.
