The Scantek Calibration laboratory is IEC17025 NVLAP accredited and it specializes in calibration of sound and vibration measuring instrumentation and transducers.
The calibration technician will perform daily calibrations of sound level meters, vibration meters, accelerometers, microphones, and associated equipment. Calibration is done using existing and newly developed procedures for manual and automated tests. The associated activities include initially testing & cleaning of incoming instruments, record keeping, occasional packing and shipping, and customer contact. Occasional repairs on electronic equipment (at board level) or field work may be needed. The position may include travel for on-site calibrations.

This position offers a good opportunity for specializing in metrology, vibrations and acoustics. The applicant will become familiar with related standards. The company encourages improving technical skills and personal progress. 

Requirements:
•   Electric/electronic background. Strong knowledge of, and experience in, the use of electronic testing equipment and general measurement techniques.
•   Experience in calibration of electronic equipment.  Familiarity with measurement uncertainty evaluation is a plus.
•   Proficient in math: pre-calculus level acceptable, calculus level desired.
•   Knowledge of Excel, and MSWord required. Networking a plus.
•   Must be able to lift weights up to 50 lbs.
•   Must speak and write English clearly.
•   Local people given preference.

Full time position. Open until filled.
Location: Columbia, MD.
Salary: $38K – $42K commensurate with skills and achievements
